Winter Slamin! Flats fishing this fall didn't live up to my standards. But it looks like an "El Nino" winter is just what the doctor ordered. Fish for redfish is HOT! We have been catching bunches of reds of all sized the past two weeks. I have been finding lower slot reds just about anywhere. Potholes, creeks, bays and grass flats are holding the smaller reds. There are also plenty of upper slot and over sized reds as well. The bigger reds have been out on the open flats and have been "tailing" during lower tide stages. Structurre fishing on higher water has been productive also. Trout fishing isn't as hot as the redfishing but it very solid. I can catch as many keeper sized trout as I need to keep people busy when there is a lull in the redfish action. Most of the catch and release trout fishing has been in 3-4 ft of water and the fish have been running 15-20 inches. Snook have made their way into the mix as well. We have been averaging a half dozen snook per day when throwing artificial lures and more when using bait. most of the fish are under the 27-inch slot but about 1 per 10 is a keeper. Good Luck! Capt.
