Giant tarpon, snook and school reds Tarpon have been here for a few weeks and with the recent good weather the fishing has really turned on. I have found fishable numbers of fish from Punta Gorda to the north and Pine Island to the south. Drifting large thread herring has proved to be the best technique with dead baiting cut ladyfish good when the winds are strong. Snook fishing on the flats is really good right now. The fish are moving toward the passes but have taken up on the shallow flats to feed on baitfish while they are in prespawn mode. Redfish are schooled up all over Pine Island Sound, Charlotte Harbor and Bull and Turtle Bay. Sarasota Bay has also produced some good schools. Bull and Turtle Bays have produced the best results because the fish have been really pressured in Pine Island and the harbor. Good Luck, Capt. Scott Hughes Blackwater Charters 941-628-4247 cell
