Trout on Mad Chew

Inshore: Bites recovering up for the back bay as well, although you might find some reds on the leeway sides of the mangrove islands and in the creeks. Trout are on a mad chew I'm told throughout the region. Get out the drift anchor or hookup on a flat in 2-5 ft. water, bring lots of shrimp. The water may be roily with all the wind. Reports of excellent Sheepshead bites, snapper and big black drum in the canals, passes and around the mega many docks, shrimp, cut bait and crab bits for the big black drum. {%image_id=46023%} Snook are the big story with liners thick in the passes and creeks. It's time to hunt through those winter-over waters. Good reports with pins, big shrimp and scented plastics all take a share. Night bites around the dock are hot stuff, bundle up, it'll be chilly! My Estero River kids are back to night gigging sheepies, black drum and mullet,"no country for old men". That's All Folks, Gotta Run! Capt. Ron Kowalyk www.fishswfla.com [email protected] 239-267-9312
