Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

The inshore fishing has been just about the same as last week. If you fished the first part of the week you did the right thing. Fishing in the early morning hours or in the late afternoon hours around the bait pods has been producing most of the snook and tarpon. There are still some trout being caught with the snapper action still going strong. SNOOK - There have been a lot of smaller snook following the bait pods around on the flats at places like Bear Point, Harbor Branch and on the flats at Midway Rd. The bigger snook are coning from the Taylor Creek area on live mullet and with all the rain it should still be one of the hot spots. TROUT - Very simply, early morning, three feet of water with grass and sandy pockets and a top water bait. This has been the winning combo for a couple of weeks. Most of the reports are of trout in the 2 to 4 pound range. TARPON - Live mullet fished with a very light weight around the channel edges at Harbor Branch or at Big Mud Creek. Also at the Ft. Pierce Inlet at night. SNAPPER - The snapper bite is the only one that remains strong day in and day out. Fish near any structure or along the channel edges with live shrimp and you should get your limit in no time. SURF - The surf anglers did not have anything to report to me this week. I'm sure the high winds and all the rain is the reason why. Always try to practice C.P.R. CATCH - PICTURE - RELEASE!
