Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

The inshore fishing has been very slow with the winds kicking all week but a few anglers did have banner days on the catch and release snook and trout if you were brave enough to go out in the wind. The shore bound anglers are having red hot catches of sheephead, snapper and croakers on the cat walks of the South Bridge. SNOOK & TROUT - The snook and trout have been all over the flats chasing the mullet in about 3 to 5 feet of water. Topwater plugs like a Zara Spook or a Top Dog lure are working the best in the early morning. Change to live shrimp after about 9:00am. SHEEPHEAD, SNAPPER & CROAKERS - The catwalks of the South Bridge are still the spot to be to catch these fish. Fresh dead shrimp fished on a #6 hook with a lite weight is the way to go. Some anglers have gotten their limit in less than an hour. POMPANO - The surf anglers are having a great time in the early morning with the pompano. The best bite has been around the Blind Creek area on Thursday and Friday of this week. Sand fleas are the bait to use. I did also get a few reports of pompano being caught on live shrimp. Until next week, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
