The inshore fishing in the Ft. Pierce area has greatly improved this past week even with the afternoon showers. REDFISH - There were a few reports of redfish being caught this past week. An 18 inch red was caught at the North Bridge on live shrimp. It seems that most of the redfish were being caught just before and just after dawn. The flats to the North around Round Island produced a few small reds also. TROUT - The trout action has been red hot this past week with reports of limits on every trip. They have been from 1 & 1/2 to 5 pounds. Live shrimp or pigfish were the best bets with rubber baits claiming it's share. The best places were The Moorings, Harbor Branch and Round Island to the North and Bear Point, Big Mud Creek and Little Mud Creek to the South. SNOOK - There were a few reports of snook being caught before the season closed. Nothing record breaking just your normal size snook. SNAPPER - The snapper bite is still strong along the channel edges and at the South Bridge. Live shrimp is still the way to go. SURF - The are plenty of jacks, whiting and blues in the surf. Both North and South beaches reported good catches with the area to the south of Ocean Village being the best. Until next week, good fishing. Capt. Joe Ward
