The trout action has been good all week with the early morning hours being the best. Live pigfish or light color plastic baits fished very slowly are working the best. The late afternoon trout bite has not been as strong as last week. Now is the time that the Gator Trout are showing up. I did get one report of a trout being caught that weighed in at 9.75 pounds and was caught around the Midway Road area. Most of the other trout that were caught were under 3 pounds. Snapper and sheephead have also been active along the channel edges. The hot spot this past week was the to the north of the North Bridge. A live shrimp fished on a jig head was the way to go. There were a few flounder caught the fisrt part of the week around the South Bridge and on the seawall behind the Library. The bite was early in the morning or just before dark. Live shrimp was the way to go. The surf anglers are having a great time with all the whiting. You can land one on almost every cast. Fresh dead shrimp are working better than frozen shrimp. There have also been a few blue fish and jacks in the surf. Until next week, good fishing. Capt. Joe Ward
