Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

Well, there has only been a couple of days with no wind this week and that makes for hard fishing. On Monday and Tuesday there was good trout action down around the Bear Point area. There was also a few trout caught from the Midway Road area south to the Jensen Beach Causeway. Most of the fish were caught on soft rubber baits. The snapper, sheepshead and flounder bite was strong the first part of the week. The catwalks of the South Bridge and the wall behing the Ft. Pierce Library were the hot spots. Live shrimp was the bait of choice for these fish. There was also a good flounder bite at the Jensen Beach causeway when fishing with live shrimp or finger mullet. The snook action has been steady when you fish at night around the local bridges and the Turning Basin. Live pigfish or a Red-tail Hawk were the baits of choice for the snook. I did get several reports of snook being caught and released that were over the 34 inch slot limit. I had two night trips this past week and we got our limits even with the winds blowing like they were. Hopefully the weather will settle down and this report will be longer next week with a lot more catches to report. Until next week, good fishing. Capt. Joe Ward
