Inshore fishing along the Treasure Coast has been red hot for sandperch. The catwalks of the South Bridge have been very productive when the angler were using fresh dead shrimp. The opening of trout season has been a good one with trout to 6 pounds being reported. The hot spot was the area around Bear Point. The best bite has been early in the morning and a live shrimp was hard to beat. Your next bet for a good fight has been the catch and release snook. The local bridge in Ft. Pierce have been giving up a nice size catch and release snook. Big, live baits are your best bet and you need to fish them at the tide changes. If it's jacks you are looking for, just look for the birds around the Ft. Pierce Inlet and the Turning Basin. These schools will be mixed with jacks, Spanish mackerel and blue runners. There is still a good grouper bite along the channel edges to the north of the North Bridge. Try slow trolling a big plug for the best results. The surf anglers are still reporting good catches of whiting and pompano. The best place to be is to the south of Ocean Village. Fresh dead shrimp was the bait to use. Unilt next week, good fishing.
