Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

The opening of snook season was not as good as everyone had thought it would be. I had a report of 3 snook being caught on Friday night at the North Bridge and only one report of snook coming from the Ft. Pierce Inlet. I only heard one 3 snook being caught on Saturday and Sunday. The cold front that came in had something to do with the snook not feeding. The snook were feeding on live pigfish and at the tide changes and the night bite was better than the day. The snapper, sheepshead and sandperch bite is till going strong along the catwalks of the South Bridge. All you need is a few small live shrimp or pieces of fresh dead shrimp. You will have all you want in no time. The trout bite has been the best to the north up around Harbor Branch and Round Island. I had reports of trout to 6 pounds being caught on live shrimp. THe best bite has been from sunrise until about 8:30am. There was a good afternoon bite on Saturday with trout to 6 & 1/2 pounds coming from Round Island. With the weather reports of 40's on Tuesday the best we can hope for is a late morning bite. Until next week, keep fishing. Capt. Joe Ward Inshore Fishing Guide
