The trout bite has been steady with a lot of big trout being reported like the 10.5 pounder that James Casio from Oil City, Penn. caught while fishing the area around the Moorings. James used a live pigfish. Most of the trout reports were coming from the Midway Road area south to Jensen Beach. The bite is still an early morning bite and a live pigfish has been hard to beat. A live shrimp fished under a popping cork or a light colored soft rubber bait will work too. If you are looking for snapper then just find some structre along the channel edges or fish around the bridges. Make sure you take plenty of live shrimp. The South Jetty has been loaded with spanish mackerel and a few nice size flounder. The catch and release snook have been keeping anglers busy after dark and at the tide changes when fishing with live baits. Remember that snook season is still closed and will reopen on Sept. 1st! Until next week, keep fishing Capt. Joe Ward Inshore Fishing GUide
