Well, snook season is open and plenty of anglers are trying their luck with some being very sucessful and others not. The start has been a good one with plenty of nice slot sized snook coming from places like Taylor Creek, the Turning Basin and around both the bridges in Ft. Pierce. Live baits and artificial baits are just about even on the number of catches. The live baits of choice has been a greenie or a mullet and for the artificial it has been DOA Terror Eyes or a small light colored jig like a Gulfstream Flash jig. There are still plenty of snapper along the channel edges and they have been feeding on live shrimp. There has also been a good flounder bite in the same area. Only a handful of pompano are hanging around and there is still plenty of spanish mackerel and big jacks at the Jetty. Until next week, good fishing. Capt. Joe Ward Inshore Fishing Guide
