Fishing had been good this past week with snook in the Turning Basin and around the North bridge early in the mornings. They have been biting both in the morning and just before dark at the South Jetty. Most of the snook have been caught on pinfish. My charter on Tuesday had their limit of snook in only 1 & 1/2 hours at the Turning Basin. The largest fish was 18 pounds. Trout fishing has been red hot all week both to the North and to the South in the river. Be best times are still from daylight to about 9:am and again just before dark. Live shrimp and a popping cork are still you best bet to catch the big trout. On Wednesday my anglers had 9 trout to 7 pounds and we were fishing the flats around Harbor Branch. Bottom fishing for snapper, croakers and sheephead still remains the best bet for a good fight. We have been fishing the change on the out going tide with the best results. The snapper have been in the 2 to 3 pound range and the sheephead have gone up to 4 & 1/2 pounds. The sheephead make for a great fight for any angler young or old. Any of these fish can be caught around any structure you might find. The bridges or the docks at the City Marina are producing the most fish. Until next week Good Fishing.
