Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

Fishing in the Ft. Pierce area has been good when the winds have died down enough for you to get out on the water. I do have several reports starting with the snook action. SNOOK - Most of the reports this week are that the snook are in the Turning Basin, Ft. Pierce Inlet and around the North bridge. The best bite this week has been just before daylight or just after dark. There have been several limits caught on the North bridge using live shrimp. One catch went 24 pounds but the fish was too big to keep. There have been a lot of snook in the 8 to 12 pound range being weighed in at local bait and tackle shops. TROUT - Trout fishing has also been good when you could get out of the wind. The trout weighed in this week were between 6 to 11 pounds with several fish weighing in a 8 pounds. The best bait once again is large live shrimp and a popping cork. Bear Point was the hot spot this week for the larger trout. REDFISH - The redfish were around the Bear Point area also. One local angler caught 3 redfish to 8 pounds at Bear Point. The other redfish that were weighed in were caught at Harbor Branch. SURF FISHING - If you were brave enough to fight the winds and high waves you must be one of the few people who caught whiting this past week. The whiting were in the surf around the Ocean Village area. Fresh dead shrimp were the bait of choice. Until next week, Good Fishing!
