Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore Report

DECEMBER 13, 2010 INSHORE - With the weather conditions not that great this past week the reports are slow coming in. However, some of the die hard anglers have still been trying. Most of the reports are from anglers fishing the lighted docks in the Ft. Pierce Inlet for snook and they did quite well. Most were using a live shrimp and fishing the tide changes. Remember that most of these docks are private property and not open to the public. There has been some black drum, sandperch and a few croakers around the area bridges and they have been taking both live and frozen shrimp. On the nicer days when you can get out of the wind look for a few nice catch and release trout. The action will be in the deeper holes and cuts. Try a soft plastic bait and work it really slow. OFFSHORE - Most of last week it was too rough for the smaller boats to fish however the bigger boats are finding sailfish action to be good. The best bite has been in the afternoon and starting in about 80 feet of water. Both ballyhoo and mullet have been a good choice. The same boats are reporting scattered dolphin, bonitas and a few kingfish. Look for the spanish mackerel, bluefish and jacks following the schools of bait fish along the beaches and into the Ft. Pierce Inlet. JUNIOR TEEN ANGLERS - Saturday - December 11th was the scheduled from shore fishing tournament for the Junior Teen Anglers. The Juniors caught and released 101 fish! They had a variety of fish including redfish, bluefish, pinfish, pompano, sheepshead, spanish mackerel, catfish, stingrays and puffers. These kids were so happy to catch a fish that they didn't care what it was. In the 5 to 8 age group 1st place - Kaitlyn Ward 2nd place - Michael Rochedieu 3rd place - Trevor Walk In the 9 to 11 age group 1st place - Savannah Ward 2nd place - Andrew Evans 3rd place Jessica Eastland Biggest fish of the tournament went to Dylan Rudd for his 2lb. stingray.
