Early spring fishing is here On the Nature Coast. The days are getting longer and the fish are now moving early. We are catching real nice sea trout and Spanish mackerel just about everywhere on nice days. Bonnet head sharks have moved in announcing spring fishing. Bait is busting and the blue fish are attacking them. I have been doing the best on light colored Salt water Assassins and silver spoons or small diamond jigs. Offshore fishing is going wild also catching breeder redfish. This only happens at this time of the year. Grouper fishing is fair to good but thanks to the powers in charge we can only catch and release the gag grouper which is prominent for this area. A lot of small red grouper are being caught but remember the commercial fishermen and keep 18 inch red grouper not us… as we have to keep them at 20 inches. Amberjack fishing is in this area at least 50 miles offshore but is great if you want to make the ride.
