Hernando Beach Fishing Report Capt. Josh Fritz With winter all most over the inshore fishing is in a spring like pattern. On my recent charters where we should find fish they are not there they are in there spring spots, red fish are on the outside points and mangrove shorelines around rocky/oyster beds. Look for the mullet schools like I say in every report find the mullet you will fine the reds. Live bait is the best way to target them right now, jumbo shrimp, pin fish, green backs yep I have netted some green backs the other day at the boat ramp. Use a 2/0 to 3/0 circle hook with 25 pound leader. Trout are working there way offshore so start in 2 to 5 feet on grass flats then in 6 to 8 feet around spotty bottom and rock piles. Soft plastic jigs like the mirr o lure lil johns and gulp shrimp will do great. Pompano are around the rocks in 3 to 6 feet look around tri pods and shallow rocks from Aripeka to Bayport, mirr o lure 17MR'S and soft plastic jigs wont last long with a big pompano. Stop into Precision Tackle in Spring Hill for all the lures I mention Dave is a great guy and will do ever thing possible to get you ready to catch fish. Tell him Capt. Josh sent you. Fishing is very good and will keep getting even better as Spring approaches book a trip ASAP dates are filling up fast. Tight Lines & Calm Seas Capt.
