Hernando Beach inshore fishing report

The cold weather is here again which has made it a little difficult to fish. I have been out a few times and targeted the creeks and rivers due to the drop in the water temperature. Bucktail jigs have worked well(silver heads with abrown tail) but we have been working the as slow as possible. We have caught Jacks, small mangroves, ladyfish, and trout. We have seen a lot of snook but they have had a bit of lockjaw. freelined shrimp have done well also tossed near the shore line. The redfish bite has slowed a bit with these recent fronts but as soon as the water warms a bit it will pick up. Try to target shallow creeks or near the many springs in our area. AND REMEMBER SLOW EVERYTHING DOWN!! I recieved a call yesterday from Capt. Steve of always fishing and he said he found a school of Black Drum between hernando and Bayport. All the fish he pulled from that school were all about 20 pounds!! Thats good news because that is a fun catch. Good luck and tight lines Captain Keith Tomlinson Bulldog fishin Charters (352)238-3581 www.bulldogfishin.com
