Hernando County fishing

Fishing the inshore waters of the Nature Coast is doing well. There are a few problems, but not with fishing, but with our governmental changes. Our illustrious law makers pertaining to fish sometimes do not play with a full deck of cards. I truly believe that sea trout should be in Florida (a sport fish)protected as a state resource. $$$ are spent yearly by people all over the world fishing in Florida for these fine fish. The rule as I know it is (with two permit holders in a boat) the boat can turn in 100 Sea Trout a day. Too rectify this. The public license holder can now fish during the breeding season. I am not a rocket scientist but da! Enough politics' fishing for redfish has been fun as the redfish retreat from their backwaters winter homes. Snook are everywhere but as always, harder to catch in the clear shallow waters off Bayport. Match the hatch as many older fishermen respond so I am doing much better with my fly rod than with plastics. Glass minnows are abundant next to shore with larger baits schooling about 8 to 10 foot of water. Small bait to fish the shore banks and larger baits to fish the inshore waters is my recommendation .
