Inshore Fishing Report For Hernando Beach Inshore fishing is great the red fish schools are getting bigger 10 to 15 fish in a school and most of them are in the upper slot 25 to 27 inches. Bait is the way to go for a good red fish bite, pin fish and green backs are my top choice for bait fishing. I rig my rods with 10 to 15 pound power pro line and a 2 foot piece of 25 to 30 pound leader with a 2/0 to 3/0 circle hook for maximum hook set. Look for the mullet schools on the outside points, cuts, islands, and oyster bars the reds will be right there. Stay casting distance away and free line your baits in the mullet school and just wait you will get bit. Trout are in the deeper flats 10 to 12 feet on spotty bottom a 1/4 ounce jig head with a gulp shrimp is the way to go. Scallops are still thick in 6 to 8 feet of water North of Bay port we are catching our limit of scallop under 2 hours. Fishing is great book a combo fishing and scalloping trip for a great dinner, CALL NOW TO RESERVE A TRIP
