Central Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report - Sebastian Area Not much that is different to report. The Weather has made it difficult to fish many of the days the past two weeks. However, when the weather has been good the fishing has been good with trout and a few reds making up the bulk of our catch. The same techniques that have been working most of the winter continue to produce fish. Rip-Tide Brand weedless shrimp and flats chubs in the new penny and gold n’ glow colors along with live shrimp. When the weather has been a bit warmer and the water temps have gotten to near 70 degrees, some top-water action has been possible. I have continued to concentrate on shallow water grass and mangroves for the larger fish. Smaller fish have been holding along the edges of the flats in 2-4 feet of water. To maximize your strikes, add some weight to the soft plastics to keep them on or near the bottom. Work them slowly if it is cold and a bit faster if things warm up.
