Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report, November 9, 2016

Prevailing easterly winds are still the norm for all areas on the Mosquito Lagoon with calmer conditions in the morning and then building winds throughout the day. Water levels are still high allowing easy access to backwater areas, and the water clarity has shown some improvement as well.This past week we have been finding most of our redfish and seatrout holding close to the shoreline with our best results fishing in very close in the leeward stretches of shoreline blind casting weighted jerkbaits rigged weedless. In addition, larger redfish and black drum have been available in the deeper channels and the deeper edges of the shoals. If you are planning a visit to the Lagoon this weekend, your best bet would be to fish early on the leeward shorelines and leave before the winds kick up.
