This is the fishing report of the father and son team of SkinsandFinscharters.com. Down here in the lovely Florida Keys we are welcoming the cool winter breeze. During the month of November the winter fishing is really starting to pick up.The cooler water temperatures bring in the speedy spanish mackeral, one of the most exciting fish to fight on a light tackle rig. We like to fish for these fun fish out on the patch reefs or on the edge of the gulf. After putting out the chum bag the bight takes a few min to get going but once it does almost every cast will have a fish on the end! Back in the Everglades the channel fishing is starting too pick up, allowing fun for the whole family. We like to stake up on the ends of run offs that filter into the channel and cast into the flowing current. If drifted the proper way the bait looks most natural to the fish. The variety of fish we can catch in the channels is amazing, on any given day our customers have the chance to catch a fish of a life time or just catch enough fish for dinner. We are generally targeting big redfish, black drum, sea trout, and lager snapper. In addition there is always a chance of catching a juvenile tarpon,a true test of any anglers skills. During the winter months the island and creek fishing is at its best, fishing for larger redfish and big snook and a large amount of snapper. The cooler temperature of the water push the fish into deeper waters to warm up. This allows us to target the bigger fish in the channels and not have to go stalking them on the flats. The preferred bait around the tree lines is a jig head tipped with shrimp or if you wanna get messy a plane J hook with a dead or live pilchard. Well want to give it a try? Check out our websight at SkinsandFinschanters.com till then this is capt Donnie and Ted Benbow asking you too keep it the shallow grass.
