Islamorada Sea Horse Off Shore Report Off Shore Report: Mahi Mahi fishing has been outstanding for the past two weeks. More Mahi have been caught lately than we have seen in the past couple years. The charter boat fleet and local anglers have been catching their limit of fish daily. Mostly nice size fish that are legal size have been caught on chunks of bait like squid or bonita. No live bait necessary lately. Hopefully this great fishing will continue for a while. Yellow tail snapper have been caught in large quantities by commercial and recreational anglers. Popular reefs like "Davis Reef", have been a local favorite hot spot. The Mutton Snappers have been caught regularly around the some wrecks and deeper reefs. The muttons started spawning and seem to eat just about any bait you get down to them. Coach Jimmy Johnson has been fishing often for Mahi off the Tavener area. He has been fishing by himself catching some impressive fish. He enjoys trolling with Ballyhoo and small inline lures. Truly remarkable his ability to find and catch fish alone on the high seas. Nice work Coach {%image_id=54499%} Back Country Report: Lots of Tarpon around the bridges in the Islamorada area. Live Mullet and Mahi bellies have been the top two best baits for catching Tarpon. Sea Trout, Black Drum, Sharks, and Mangrove Snappers have been consistently caught throughout Florida Bay.
