Islamorada Sea Horse Sport fishing Report Mahi, Tuna. Amberjack and yellow tail is what is being caught in the Islamorada area. Smaller schools of larger Mahi are in the area moving into the current. These fish are mostly found by noticing the birds flying over the school. The Frigate birds have been a big help lately when trying to find bigger fish in the twenty pound plus range. Most of these larger Mahi have been on the edge of the color change where the Gulf Stream and the green water meet. The mixing of these two currents accumulates debris often attracting bait fish that larger predators love to eat. Trolling along these areas is often productive for Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo. Black fin tuna are moving through this are in large schools and moving south against the Gulf Stream current. All of the off shore humps are loaded with these delicious fish. Live bait, lures, dead bait it does not matter the tuna will probably bite it. So if you are looking for constant fish catching action all day then tunas are here for you.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Rick Rodriguez
