It's officially SPRING to me when the 1st Spanish Mackerel is caught at the Jacksonville's Mayport Jetties. {%image_id=4396%} NOT, always coinciding with what the human calendar says, thats for sure. But for this fisherman, it works. UNTIL THEN, I'll be doing as stated in my last report here on Cyberangler. -Fishing deep for BIG Sheepshead and Black Drum or -Float-rig fishing with live shrimp for TROUT! I guess one of the reasons we don't have the TV fisherman do many shows up our way is that it can certainly change from day to day, week to week. I plan, for each charter day extensively. But, as a general rule; ONE MUST REMAIN RIGIDLY FLEXIBLE AT ALL TIMES WHEN FISHING THE ST. JOHNS RIVER. I posted this video on my daily blog: http://youtu.be/bJd3-JhJeyo Because, the Black Drum bite was seemingly "ON". {%image_id=3932%} {%image_id=3933%} Then, just a few days later, I was out two days in a row, looking for BIG Black Drum specifically, and this happened at the Inlet. Then, the next day we tried for any size Drum at a usual Drum spot and came up with...."you'll see here" http://youtu.be/fXXOopM_Uz8 So, I may have been pressing it, and was I too early? {%image_id=3149%} {%image_id=3148%} {%image_id=3245%} {%image_id=3247%} Either way. As I said, we'll be going deep in search of Drum & Sheepshead. Bottom fishing. Or sticking with Float-rig fishing for Trout & Reds.Along the Mayport Jetties. {%image_id=3249%} {%image_id=3891%} TILL THE SHARKS SHOW UP THICK!! And then, everything changes. Because this year I'll be targeting not just the inlet & shrimp boat Blacktips and Spinner sharks. {%image_id=4764%} But am looking for a crew 2-3, that want to pursue much larger coastal species along area beaches and other inlets. Those trips will be 8 hrs, for sure!! Bait - Stingrays, Ladyfish, Jacks, etc. Tackle - Heavy! Hooks - Large Battles? - maybe hours... are you up to it? WWW.CAPTDAVES.COM - JETTYWOLF LIFE 365/7 days a week! {%image_id=37060%}
