Jacksonville, FL Fishing Reports

Finally after a solid week of monster high tides from a full moon I got to fish some low water and the Red fish were ready to roll. On a trip with James McAndrews and his son Kyle on Friday the 28th I headed straight to the creeks were I was sure some larger Red fish were and they were ready to eat. This time of year a live Shrimp on a jig head worked around the shell mounds is as good a bait as you can use as far as I’m concerned. We worked three different mounds in the first two hours catching over 20 Reds that were all mostly small. Better known as Rat Reds but they pack a great fight. We also mixed in a few small Trout and a Flounder. We were seeing plenty of solid 3 to 5 pound fish but they just weren’t interested. At the last stop when the tide had started moving in good we hit pay dirt. The larger fish at this mound decided to chew. What a blast catching 9 solid Reds to about five pounds in the last hour of the trip. Thanks for a great time guys, Capt. James Howard (904)651-9557 www.gofishjax.com
