What great weather to start out February Well the hit or miss this time of year has been mostly hit since the first of February. We have had some really nice weather and the fish have been on the feed. It want be long before the season changes and the fish want have a choice but to eat. Fishing this past Monday February the 4th with Andrew Hochgraver and his friend Tom from the windy city “Chicago” you could not have ordered a better fishing trip….. They were happy to be in some nice weather for a change considering they left below freezing temperatures and snow behind. I was able to get some decent live shrimp which are sometimes hard to get this time of year so we were off to do some float fishing in some deeper water and the Trout were on fire. You can’t keep Trout this month in north Florida but you can still catch them and we were able to get some nice ones. They caught 16 Trout in the 2 to 3lb range and I know the corks went down at least thirty times. Float fishing is a little tricky until you get the hang of it but is a blast when they are going down. It is all visual so you have to keep an eye on your cork. They also mixed in 2 Sheepshead and 1 Flounder. When the tide slowed down and started to turn we moved to the edges of the grass and worked some live shrimp under some small corks for some Reds and that worked out for Tom. We only got 2 of them to feed but they were both about 7 pounds and that toped off a great fishing trip. Thanks for a good time guys, until next time Tight Lines Capt.
