Warm Weather, Great Fishing-Jacksonville/St Augustine

May has been a great month for redfish. Despite a week of frustrating southeast winds, my clients had a blast catching upper slot redfish in the backwaters around Jacksonville and St Augustine. There is a ton of bait in the creeks which have the redfish stuffing themselves with small shrimp, minnows, crabs and mullet. I've been keeping it simple with mud minnows on a ¼ oz jig. Cast along the oyster beds, wait a couple seconds for a "thump", set the hook and have fun. I was fortunate to fish with a few of my favorite clients on Mothers day. Todd, Kelly and Cindy Stacy spent a perfect morning catching and releasing several nice upper slot redfish. Cindy was treated for Mothers day with 2 reds in the 26" inch range on light tackle. Good times! {%image_id=15306%} Kelly couldn't let her have all the fun: {%image_id=15311%} A couple more nice redfish from last week: {%image_id=15310%} {%image_id=15309%} Trout have been showing in bigger numbers and size. I caught this nice one on a money minnow swim bait. {%image_id=15308%} Capt. Ron Schurr 904-707-8328 www.fishingnorthflorida.com
