Cold Tides swept through the area causing an upwelling last week. The water tempature was as low as 69-74 in some areas. The tides really affected a strong Mutton Snapper bite that has been on the reef. Many people were also catching nice flags with squid or sardines. The action should pick back up after the upwelling, but many fish were floating at the surface dead including angel fish and snappers. Offshore the bite has been dominated by bonitos and will continue to be. This is definitely the time to tie a bonito fly on and have fun with that, otherwise you will be trolling for 6 bonito to every dolphin. I always prefered fishing chugger and other dolphin favorites of lure this time of year, so that your not feeding all those beefier bonitos. The kingfish bite remains strong and there has been a decent run of live bait down the coast. C. Hickey
