Go, while the weather's good! Sailfish continued to “stack up” off the coast of Palm Beach and Jupiter. Live baiting with goggle eyes or blue runners is the best method to score a trophy sail. Multiple hook ups have been common and every so often a nice dolphin will surprise you and provide a great holiday meal. King mackerel have been fairly abundant with early morning being the best time to catch a “smoker”. Live bait will indeed catch them but there is no need, triple hooked sardines are just as effective and you don’t have to worry about dead bait swimming around and tangling up your lines. Or pay $60 a dozen for live bait. Bottom fishing for snapper has been good. Dead sardines are the choice bait. Today at the marina one angler had a 10-12lbs. mutton snapper and many yellow tails. Anyone trying to catch sailfish bait out of Jupiter should try using large sabikis around the “dredge” about a half mile in front of the inlet. You can’t miss it. Blue runners are holding around it. Spanish mackerel are loaded off Peck's lake, it's almost a sure thing. If it doesn't have fins, props or hooters...Count me out!
