Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Slow Down Today the winds dropped down to very light, just enough to keep the kites up. But the fishing was just enough to keep us up. We started out fishing for Dolphin but after finding a nice school and being unable to get them to eat except for one, we aborted that mission. Next we tried for Amberjacks just to get a pull on the rod, two bites on the Sir Scott ended in two Jacks eaten by sharks, we aborted that mission. Finally we went in and put up the kites around the Beacon and started to get a few bites, mostly kings and Bonito. We caught 4 nice kings in the 15 pound range, 2 bonito, and missed a Black fin tuna and had two sails up in the baits but they did not eat. Two big Barracuda ended the half day trip, which concidering what most other boats had was a success. The kings were biting Threadfins and Cigar minnows which were nearly extinct. They were in 70 to 90 ft. If your going Sat. be sure to find bait somewhere other than Bug Light, There was very little there or anywhere today. I heard of several boats that turned around after not catching baits.*********Remember though: Everyday is different and tomorrow may be that day it all turns around.
