Being involved with this event is rewarding enough on its own but winning the Grand Champion Trophy was over the top! If you ever get the opportunity to participate or if you want to next year, give us a call. We fished 3 days around the clock so we got a good feel of the fish behavior. The backwaters of the Everglades were especially stained after all the rain we got over the past week. We found most of our fish when we were able to locate clean clear water. Redfish and Snook are still proving to be the go to species. These guys have been both on the mangrove shorelines and in the open flats. They were a bit spooky in the shallow waters so remember to move in stealth mode and a soft quiet bait presentation is a must. The Trout have been hit and miss, but when they are hitting its non stop action. We have had our best luck finding them late in the afternoon. We saw quite a few Tarpon and boated a few small ones. This bite will only get hotter as we creep into October. Give us a call to come experience the mighty Silver King battle.
