May a Tarpon Feast for Sharks While we have had a few good days during the past two weeks, May has been very difficult and the lousy weather has kept the Tarpon down. Let's hope that June will bring us fair southeast winds and sunny skies! When preparing for your Tarpon trip to the Keys, always practice the "double haul" casting technique with an 11 or 12 weight rod. Most anglers prefer a floating line on the flats and an intermediate line in the channels and deep water basins, so it pays to practice with both.During one of the better days this May, Jonathan Dyer had a "shark encounter" while hooked up with a Tarpon. Before you travel to the Keys for some great Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit action, call Capt. Dexter Simmons for a live report 305-745-3304. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels!
