June Brings the Tarpon! June has brought sunny skies and Tarpon to the boat! On one particular four day stretch, we were able to hook up 20 Tarpon, jumping five, and landing three. The best fly this season has been the Black Death, with the Sand Devil and close second.When preparing for your Tarpon trip to the Keys, always practice the "double haul" casting technique with an 11 or 12 weight rod. Most anglers prefer a floating line on the flats and an intermediate line in the channels and deep water basins, so it pays to practice with both.During one of the better days this May, Jonathan Dyer had a "shark encounter" while hooked up with a Tarpon.
