Red Hot Tarpon Action Continues! June continues to provide RED HOT TARPON FISHING. The Silver Kings are still streaming across the flats and collecting in the channels and basins. We have been jumping Tarpon daily and landing some too. These fish are averaging 60 to 100 pounds, with the occasional 130-150 giant. Here is Capt. Dexter "bowing" to a 90 pound Tarpon that he landed in 15 minutes. Tarpon on the flats are a thrill to cast to, hook up, jump and fight to the boat. It is probably the most exciting fly fishing there is. It is an incredible rush to watch the giant silver king eat the fly in front of you and to feel the awesome power of the hooked Tarpon surge through the graphite rod, jumping five feet into the air, then crashing back to the surface and running for deep water.> Anglers interested in trying Tarpon for the first time should plan well in advance, as most guides will book up the prime dates in May and June nearly a year in advance. So contact your guide soon and get ready for Tarpon Season, 2002! During one of the better days this past May, Jonathan Dyer had a "shark encounter" while hooked up with a Tarpon. Before you travel to the Keys for some great Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit action, call Capt. Dexter Simmons for a live report 305-745-3304. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels!
