Mild "Grand Slam" Weather December has been very mild, if a bit windy. The mild temps have kept the Bonefish active on the flats. In the photo above, Rob James caught this Bone with a merkin crab pattern. We had been hunting for Permit, had had a few shots, and then found a mudding school of Bonefish that pounced on the fly. This was Rob's first Bone. Congratulations Rob!This week the mild weather pattern is expected to continue, and so should the Permit and Bonefish activity on the flats. Baby Tarpon are also available in the channels and creeks to complete that Grand Slam! If you have some free time to travel to the Keys for some late fall flats fishing, now is the time to hop on the plane and fly down. Winter is right around the corner! For a live report, contact Capt. Dexter Simmons at 305-745-3304 or by email at [email protected]
