Early Spring Fishing "Hot" on the Flats It has been Grand Slam fishing here in the Keys during the past week or so. If you have the time, then you owe it to yourself to be fishing out of Key West before the next cold front arrives on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Permit, Bonefish and Tarpon are all being taken, as are Cobia, Barracuda, Sharks, Jack Crevalle, Mackerel and Mutton Snapper. Tarpon have flooded in from the Gulf of Mexico, as temps have been consistently in the 80's (26-27 Celsius). Backcountry channels, flats and basins are "loaded up" with Silver Kings, big Barracuda and Cobia right now. Bonefish have been turning on from mid-day through the afternoon on backcountry flats and channel edges. Our weather pattern is more like mid-March right now with only the occasional windy day or two.Don't wait another moment if you have a chance to travel this weekend, then do it! You will be greeted by temps in the 70's and low 80's, light winds, and beautiful sunny skies. Perfect conditions for early spring flats fishing. You may contact Capt. Dexter Simmons for a future fishing charter by telephone at 305-745-3304 or by email at [email protected]
