Early Tarpon Season on Fire! Tarpon are continuing to provide some great March action. Here John Gatto and his buddy Keith share a Tarpon moment. John and Keith hooked up 15 Tarpon in 4 hours on a backcountry flat this Thursday morning. We had the flat all to ourselves. John managed to bring two of the Tarpon to the boat, and Keith boated one. The Tarpon all ranged between 40 and 80 pounds, and were eating ravenously on a morning with light and variable winds. In between the Tarpon action, we spotted some floating Permit and made a few casts, however we all know how tough the Permit fishing is when it is so calm! They can hear and see everything, and they get very spooky.Permit are still "Marching" across the flats in big numbers, day after day. This action should continue through early April with fair weather.Bonefish are really showing in good sized schools on gulf side flats during warm water afternoons!!! Now is a good time to plan a summer fishing trip! Our Father-Son Key West Flats Fishing Camps are scheduled for late June, July, August and September.
