Winter's January Thaw is Approaching! Jan. 24, 2003Geoff and Betsy Spillane are two of the nicest people I have been fishing with. Betsy hooked, landed and released this BIG barracuda a few days ago in very cool weather here in the Keys. We have been catching Barracuda in the 5 to 20 pound range for the past three weeks, but this 16 pound catch by Betsy was the most fun. The fish ran like a rabbit and jumped like a Tigger all over the flat until it wore itself out. In between cold fronts, we have been catching Pompano, Ladyfish, Jack Crevalle, Bluefish, and Spotted Seatrout in the backcountry muds. The Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit should return this coming week as temps are forecast to be in the high 70's. Our Father (Mother) - Son (Daughter) Key West Flats Fishing Trips are now scheduled for throughout the summer, fall and winter. For more information about the Father and Son Flats Fishing Trips go to http://www.keywestflyfishing.com/fatherandson.htm You may contact Capt. Dexter Simmons for a future fishing charter by telephone at 305-745-3304 or by email at [email protected]
