Indian Summer brings some great Flats Fishing! Sept. 24, 2006. Indian Summer is lingering in the Keys and with it some outstanding fly fishing for Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon. Yesterday, we caught 7 Bonefish in less than 2 hours around the Content Keys about 20 miles Northeast of Key West. The Bones ranged from 3 pounds to nearly 10 pounds and were relatively easy targets on the sandy bottom flats.Catching a Bonefish "double" is not easy, but above Dan shows the evidence with 2 Bones in the net. Many resident Tarpon have been active as of late hammering the late summer pilchards that are schooled up in the mangrove creeks. Early morning or late afternoon/evening fishing is best for these resident poons.Permit have been pushing around the backcountry flats in singles and schools. They usually respond favorably to spring tides and strong currents looking for an easy meal. When you are ready to book a charter or just talk fishing, contact Capt.
