Fall Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit Action! October 23, 2007. Late October on the flats. Bonefish magic. Baby Tarpon and Permit also available. Most guides are Grand Slam fishing themselves this year. The Bonefish are really swarming on the flats this fall. Here is a just hooked Bonefish getting ready to run! Tailing Bonefish at sunsrise or sunset are hallmarks of fall fly fishing here in the Keys. And during daytime hours we usually find schools roaming the drop off edges. Sight casting is the preferred method, and this is accomplished with the aid of a guide friend who can help to spot the fish from atop the platform.Early fall is considered a banner Grand Slam season in the Keys (e.g. a Grand Slam is catching a Tarpon, a Bonefish and a Permit all in the same day). Two slams were recorded at the September one day Superfly event in Key West. This fall will be great for grand slam angling, so make your plans now!
