Reno Anglers Score on Silver Kings Tarpon are still migrating up the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the Keys and the action is still very hot, weather permitting. Today Don Wilkerson and Mark McVeigh each jumped a big silver king, with Mark landing his 80 pounder after a 25 minute battle. Mark hooked his Tarpon by casting a "Dexter Too" fly into a school of rolling fish. The tarpon freight trained about 200 yards of line off the reel in less than 15 seconds! Later on in the morning, Don jumped a fish estimated at 120 pounds with the same fly. Three jumps and the fish was off, free of the hook. We are fighting fish in marginal weather conditions with winds from 15 to 20 mph and variably cloudy skies. Visibility and casting are impaired in these conditions, making these anglers accomplishments that much more noteworthy. Before you travel to the Keys, call Capt. Dexter Simmons for a live report 305-745-3304. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels!
