Snapper fishing on the reefs has been fantastic lately. Large Mangroves, Muttons, and Yellowtail Snapper have been munching up and down the reef edge on the patches and as deep as 110ft. Add that in with the beginnings of lobster season and it is a literal seafood fest right now in the middle keys! Offshore the Mahi have been plentiful at times and the fish seem to be offshore of the 15 mile mark. Some decent Wahoo have also been hitting the docks in Marathon and a few Tuna and Swordfish have also been showing up when decent weather allows boats to get out to those areas. Deep dropping has produced some large Snowy Grouper, Barrelfish and Tilefish. An occasional Marlin has also been reported to chomp on a ballyhoo or lure from boats that are out chasing Dolphin on the gulf stream edge. Backcountry fishing off of Marathon has produced some nice days fishing for Sharks but most boats running half day lobster trips right now getting folks in the water and getting their lobsters..
