Muttons Mingle... Some nice catches of large Mutton Snapper have been hitting the docks in the middle FL Keys lately along with some nice Black Grouper and lots of Yellowtail Snapper. The reef and wreck bite has been hot lately and many captains have opted to do some wreck fishing as Dolphin fishing has been slow lately on the offshore scene. Even though the bite has been off lately for Dolphin, there was a 63lb fish brought in during a tournament this past weekend. The bite has been spotty and the best action has been from 15-30 miles offshore recently. Most fish have been found under moving birds and under floating debris. Look for the fishing to be off and on the rest of the summer with some large schools of Dolphin showing up from time to time as they migrate north during the next couple months. The bigger fish can be found out near the wall or humps as the food that gathers there will hold fish for a bit longer periods. Tarpon action is fading a bit at the bridges but some good numbers of fish have been spotted moving up the atlantic coast of the keys islands and they have been eating a blue crab tossed in thier direction. Good Tarpon fishing should last a couple more weeks in the middle keys and then last most of the summer for resident tarpon in the backcountry and everglades. Good luck in all your fishing adventures! Capt Bob Brown, Jr
