The offshore bite in the Middle Keys was hot over the holidays with some nice catches of Mahi coming in from the edge of the gulf stream off of Sombrero light and up and down the coast. The stream edge was positioned in about 630ft of water over the past weekend and a good color change was there to put you on the rip. Weed lines were available to fish also and were holding some fish in 500ft area as well. This condition produced some good Mahi all weekend and should continue as our warm weather pattern is replaced by some cooler weather pushing some fish down from the north. Sailfish have been hot on the reef edge from 70" out to about 200' along the reef edge in the Big Pine to Marathon area. Some packs of fish were reported and some multiple hook ups were common. Also, some large Wahoo and nice Blackfin Tuna were coming in from near deep wrecks. Mutton Snappers were chomping for many Keys captains working the deep wrecks also along with Amberjacks and some nice grouper that had to be released!...
