Summer time can have it's moments in the Keys as far as reef fishing goes and the snapper bite has been fantastic the past couple weeks with some huge mutton snappers coming to the docks lately at all the charter boat marinas in the middle Keys. Some catches of 10+ big Muttons have been coming in, along with a variety of other nice size wreck dwellers including some black Grouper up to 35lb. Some Jacks and Tuna have also been around some of the lower Keys wrecks. Night time fishing for Mangrove Snapper has been excellent on the reef along with some huge Yellowtail Snapper as well. Bayside snapper fishing has been good also along with hooking up plenty of medium to large Lemon, Blacktip and Bull Sharks!! Offshore fishing has been god at times for decent sized Mahi anywhere from the edge of the reef to 30+ miles offshore. Some small fish have been cruising the reef edge showing up in chum slicks at times in as shallow as 50ft of water but more often they have been under birds in the 200ft+ depths. Swordfishing has been fantastic with some fish as large as 350lb reported being caught and battled out on the edge of the wall. A few nice Tuna have been had out there as well along with an occasional Wahoo.
