Tarpon Chomping in middle Keys!

The annual tarpon run in the Florida Keys has been in full swing since April, but recent calm conditions have heated up the bite at all bridge locations in the Marathon area. Long Key and 7 mile bridge have been hot with some captains reporting 20 bites on a half day trip hooking up mutli fish and releasing several. Some fish up to 175lb have been caught and plenty of nice fish in the 70-120lb range have been hooked up this week. This great action could carry on for a while yet so find some bait and get your Tarpon on this week! The offshore bite has been spotty this week but some good catches with fish up to 35lb reported by Tom Wammack of Grassy Key this week. Marathon Charter boats have been catching some nice Mahi out about 25 miles from shore and a few Blue Marlin have been showing up as well. Swordfish have been biting at the wall deep dropping in the daytime and some nice wahoo have been caught as well trolling the wall area. Blackfin have been off and on at the humps and the skipjack tuna have ruled the wall area. Snapper fishing remains good on the shallow reef and the yellowtail bite has been excellent at night during the full moon... good luck in all your fishing adventures!
