This past week, fishing was excellent. Catching live bait was easy. With the water temperatures reaching as high as eighty degrees, all the backcountry players were ready and willing. Of course, a major cold front has almost all but passed through. In its wake are cool overcast skies. But fishing was excellent. Prior to the front, we were catching snook of all sizes. I had a couple of great days on the fly as well. Snook seemed to be hanging out front and in the middle of the islands. I never ventured into the backcountry. We caught a few token pompano and mackerel in the passes as well. Jacks and ladyfish rounded out the whole scene. We had some heavy winds with this front and I have not been out this week but will be out later this week. I am sure the water temperature has dropped and all the bait has moved. We may have to actually go into winter mode. I will keep you posted. On another note, my wife is an artist and faux finisher. We had world renowned muralist Sean Crosby at our house this week. Together they painted this modernistic tarpon on canvas. It is for sale. Mention CyberAngler for a special price. Call PJ at 239-289-6104. It is a must see. I'll see you on the water {%image_id=13293%}
