The winds have finally tamed down these past few weeks and the snook fishing has definitely heated up. Redfish, trout, and the occasional tarpon will round out the day. It has been a blustery spring and we are happy to see the dog days of summer arrive. What that means is that we can fish where we want instead of where we have to. With summer come the daily rains. The first few weeks of rain can throw the fish off as all the tannin gets mixed into the water. Eventually, there comes an equilibrium. We are at that point and snook fishing has been excellent. Snook have been mostly on the outside points of the islands as well as the middle islands. I have been catching snook with my clients form two to fifteen pounds. Live bait and artificial have been doing damage and double digit days can be expected if you bring you're "A" game. Early morning is the best time for top water junkies. There are a few tarpon around but the bulk of them are to the north of us by now. That's ok. We have plenty to keep us busy throughout the summer.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Matt Hoover
